KZN Sale Lot 29 by SOQRAT (AUS)

Soqrat colt out of Captain Of All’s full-sister I’m Serious!

Lot 29: c Soqrat ex I’m Serious

The Riverton Stud bred champion Captain Of All was one of the finest sprinters seen in South Africa in many a year. A G1 winner at both two and four, Captain Of All was one of the best sprinters in world in 2015. The son of Captain Al was also named Equus Champion Sprinter in 2014-2015 and won or placed in six G1 races.

Winner of the G1 Tsogo Sun Medallion at two, Captain Of All went on to put up some huge performances at four. After defying 60kgs to win the G1 Golden Horse Sprint, Captain Of All went on to romp home, at the expense of champions Carry On Alice and Legislate, in the G1 Mercury Sprint, a sprint he won by four and a half lengths! Retired to stud, Captain Of All quickly made his mark and was South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2018-2019.

His top offspring thus far include Linebacker (G1 Jonsson Workwear Cape Derby, G1 Daily News 2000), Fiery Pegasus (G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic, G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks), Shango (G2 TAB/Betting World Dingaans), Springs Of Carmel (G2 Pospack SA Fillies Nursery), and Jerusalema Rain. The latter currently rates as one of South Africa’s best sprinters, with Jerusalema Rain having downed star sprinter Buffalo Storm Cody to win the 2026 G2 TAB Senor Santa Stakes.

Riverton will be offering a close relative of this magnificent sprinter at this year’s KZN Yearling Sale.

The big, strong, Soqrat colt in question is out of Captain Of All’s full-sister I’m Serious, also a half-sister to G3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery third Intimateconnection.
I’m Serious is out of the winning Fard mare Serious Side, a half-sister to G3 winning two-year-old Cats Eye, and, further back, this is the family of Derby winner and successful sire Owen Tudor.

Captain Al, the sire of I’m Serious, was a champion sire who has become an exceptional broodmare sire. South Africa’s Leading Broodmare Sire in 2024-2025, Captain Al is broodmare sire of more than 70 stakes winners, with this tally including such champions as Proceed, Princess Calla, Sandringham Summit and reigning South African Horse Of The Year Eight On Eighteen. Captain Al is also broodmare sire of G1 Vodacom Durban July/G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met winning sire Kommetdieding.

From one of the finest families in the stud book, Soqrat was an exceptional racehorse. Winner of three of four starts at two, including the G1 Premiers Champion Stakes, Soqrat was named Equus Champion 2YO Colt of 2017-2018. He would go on to win both the G1 Cape Guineas and G1 H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes, with Soqrat eventually retiring to stud having won or been placed in eight G1 races. A grandson of top-class Australian sire Commands, Soqrat has made his mark with a host of useful winners led by this season’s G2 Anthonij Rupert Premier Trophy winner I Salute You. The latter has already earned more than R860 000 in prize money.

KZN Sale Lot 68 by CAPTAIN OF ALL

Colt with a terrific female line!

Lot 68: c Captain Of All ex Neurose

The Riverton Stud bred champion Captain Of All has enjoyed consistent success since retiring to stud. South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2018-2019, the triple G1 winning Equus Champion and the World’s 2nd fastest horse in 2015, made an immediate impact with his first crop headed by five horses who either won or were placed in stakes races. That crop was topped by triple graded stakes winner, and G1 SA Derby runner up, Shango.

Captain Of All’s second crop was headed by the brilliant Linebacker. The latter not only won all of the G1 Jonsson Workwear Cape Derby, G1 Daily News 2000 and G2 World Sports Betting Guineas, but also finished second, beaten just over half a length, in the 2021 Vodacom Durban July. This crop also included a high-class two-year-old in the form of Springs Of Carmel, winner of both the G2 Pospack SA Fillies Nursery and Listed The Citizen Ruffian Stakes.

Subsequent crops have yielded more high-class performers, including G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic/G2 Wilgerbosdrift Bridget Oppenheimer SA Oaks winner Fiery Pegasus, as well as such smart performers as Captain Lannister, Captain Casey, Kiss Me Captain and Jerusalema Rain. The latter finished second in the G2 World Sports Betting SA Nursery at two before going on to win this season’s G2 TAB Senor Santa Stakes.

Riverton Stud will be offering a high quality, beautifully balanced colt by this outstanding racehorse at this year’s KZN Yearling Sale.

The colt in question is a full brother to the useful performers Major Apollo and Ayuwi Yuwi, and half-brother to the seven-time winning, and Listed Golden Loom Handicap third, Great Shaka. Their dam Neurose, a granddaughter of champion US sire Broad Brush, won twice up to 1400m, and was one of seven winners produced by her dam, Fiestera Fitz. From the immediate family of Chilean champion La Chiflota, Fiestera Fitz is directly descended in female line from one of the most important broodmares in the studbook -Sirenia.

The latter, herself unbeaten on the track, produced the classic winner Electra (One Thousand Guineas), and is ancestress of numerous high-class performers including Salmon-Trout (St Leger), Snow Marten (The Oaks), Festin (Jockey Club Gold Cup), and the highly successful sire Lord At War, among others.

KZN Sale Lot 100 by REAL GONE KID (AUS)

Half-sister to 5 Winners! Immediate family of Questioning!

Lot 100: f Real Gone Kid ex Senorita Al

Classy gelding Questioning has been one of the stars of the South African turf this season. At the time of writing, the five-year-old had won a trio of graded stakes races this season culminating in a thrashing of champion Gladatorian in the G2 Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes. Questioning, beaten just a short-head in the 2026 G1 L’Omarins King’s Plate, has won 10 times and has already earned in excess of R2.675 million this season.

Riverton Stud will be offering a Real Gone Kid filly from the immediate family of Questioning at the 2026 KZN Yearling Sale.

Both horses are directly descended in female line from none other than Drohsky, arguably the greatest broodmare in the South African stud book. Another similarity between Riverton’s filly and Questioning is that they were both sired by a Danzig line horse and both are out of mares by Captain Al!

The filly in question is a daughter of Snitzel’s speedy son Real Gone Kid, one of South Africa’s Leading First Season Sires in 2025-2026. At the time of writing, Real Gone Kid, who himself was produced by Jet Master’s champion daughter In The Fast Lane, had been responsible for six winners from his first 17 runners, with his early winners including Listed East Cape Nursery runner up Master Mtoto.

The filly on offer is a half-sister to five winners led by G3 Umkhomazi Stakes/KZN Yearling Sale Million winner Al Mariachi (also by a Danzig line sire).
She is out of the Captain Al mare Senorita Al, a half-sister to G3 The 2200 winner London Guest, and Senorita Al’s own dam, Model Guest, is a three-parts sister to multiple champion sprinter Senor Santa.

This filly is closely inbred to former champion South African sire Northern Guest (the sire of Senor Santa). Northern Guest appears in both the pedigree of Real Gone Kid and Senorita Al. This pattern can also be found in the pedigree of this season’s G3 TAB Starling Stakes winner Valentina Balducci. Remarkably, Northern Guest hails from the same female line as Redoute’s Choice -the paternal grandsire of Real Gone Kid!

KZN Sale Lot 103 by DANON PLATINA (JPN)

Full-sister to G1 two-year-old Rock The Globe & a half-sister to 8.5M earner Illuminator!

Lot 103: f Danon Platina ex Seventh Heart

Descendants of the Joy II mare Esteban have enjoyed a wonderful season in South Africa in 2025-2026. Among Esteban’s notable descendants to have shone this season are the remarkable William Robertson, the latter’s half-brother Splittheeights and classy filly Stormwatch. William Robertson, whose fourth dam is Esteban, has won 17 races, to date, for earnings of more than R3.426 million in stakes. A son of Rafeef, William Robertson has won five graded stakes races including the 2025 G1 TAB Computaform Sprint.

His half-brother Splittheeights, who has already earned more than R1.137 million, has won three of six starts, with his wins including this season’s G2 TAB Gauteng Guineas. Another classy member of this family is Stormwatch (whose fourth dam is Esteban). That Vercingetorix filly has finished first or second in three black type races this season, with Stormwatch making a big impression when storming home to claim the Listed Ladies Mile by three and a half lengths.

Riverton Stud will be offering a big, well-bred, racy Danon Platina filly from this wonderful family at the 2026 KZN Yearling Sale.

The filly in question is a half-sister to two winners, and her three time winning dam Seventh Heart is not only  a full-sister to G1 two-year-old Rock The Globe, but is also a half-sister to Illuminator, who earned more than R8.5 million in a short career.

Seventh Heart, in turn, is a half-sister to the three time winning dam of Splittheeights and William Robertson. Her own dam Pacific Lights, by champion sire Al Mufti, won five times, and ran second in the Listed Lady’s Bracelet. The beautifully bred Pacific Lights is herself a half-sister to G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship queen Silver Arc.

Japanese champion Danon Platina is a son of legendary racehorse and sire Deep Impact. The latter continues to make his presence felt through such sire sons as Kizuna, Real Steel, Saxon Warrior, Study Of Man, and Satono Aladdin.

Danon Platina himself has come up with a plethora of high-class winners, which include such graded stakes winners as Absolutely Yes, Great Plains and White Pearl, R5.4 million plus earner Rapidash, and this season’s Listed Settlers Trophy winner Landoftherisingsun.

At the time of writing, the son of multiple champion sire Western Winter had been responsible for four stakes winners, who had won seven black type races between them, and his runners have already earned in excess of R12.055 million in 2025-2026.

What A Winter’s current flagbearers include recent G1 South African Fillies Sprint brought to you by The Witness winner Asiye Phambili, with the latter having notched up six graded stakes wins. Other What A Winter sired stakes winners this season include Symphony In White, Tenpenny and G2 Allan Robertson Championship/G3 TAB Pretty Polly Stakes heroine Get Up.

A proven sire, who consistently produces high-class stakes winners, What A Winter was South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire in 2016-2017, and Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2019-2020. At the time of writing, What A Winter was fourth on the Leading Sires of 2YOs for 2025-2026.

Riverton Stud will be offering a beautifully bred, strong, What A Winter colt at the upcoming KZN Yearling Sale.

A half-brother to two winners, including the exported G1 performer One More, this colt is out of the Trippi mare Durban Bourbon.
He is thus bred on the same What A Winter/Trippi cross as graded stakes winners Distant Winter and One Fine Winter.

Durban Bourbon, bred on similar lines to the Trippi sired millionaire Miss Katalin, is out of the stakes placed Tigress. The latter, a daughter of multiple champion sire and leading broodmare sire Jet Master, is a full-sister to G1 Empress Club Stakes winner Little Miss Magic, and this is also the family of such high-class performers as champion Tara’s Touch and fellow G1 winners Bilateral, Lucky Lad, Priceless Asset, State Treasure, and VJ’s Angel.

Durban Bourbon herself traces back directly in female line to the remarkable Fifinella, winner of both the English Derby and English Oaks in 1916.
